~Bittersweet-Boy-Toy

I found out last night from Ash, that our dog, Smokey, was killed.

It hasn't hit me yet, at least on the outside. On the inside; however, I'm feeling like a piece of me just died. I've experienced so many animals dying in my life, that I guess, it has just gotten to the point where it takes much longer for the facts to really sink in.

I sounded rather insensitive last night when I came home and Ash told me, but I didn't know how else to react. I was so shocked, and I had already lost my last pet to a semi-truck a few months ago.

Smokey was the last pet I had.

He wasn't my dog, personally, but I've been a part of my roommate's family for years, since Brandon was born. Knowing that the little 'rat' that I always spoiled isn't going to be there to spoil anymore is tearing me up inside.

Between Vaughn and I, we gave him the most attention. Heh, I turned him into quite the lapdog recently...


I can't believe...the last thing I ever said to him was "Smokey, get off the couch!" before going to work yesterday.

...I'm going to break, maybe not now, but I will. And when I do, it'll be hard.
